Remember when I told you here that we sold our house and everything was packed up - including the sewing machine? Well, I've been having a hard time quenching the creativity thirst since. I run into cute fabric and it just kills me to not be able to justify buying it.
The good news is, I've gotten a lot of scrapbooking done. Thank the heavens for this digital age, otherwise that would all be packed up too. Who knows what I would have done then!
Even though I can't share any sewing tutorials with you for awhile, I've discovered a little secret that I can share that has revolutionized my digital scrapbooking methods.
It's a software called - My Memories Suite.
And get this! They are letting me give away a free software download, valued at $39.97!
Let me tell you about the software, then I will fill you in on the giveaway and give you my code to save you even more money!
If you can recall, I've mentioned my scrapbooking methods here, where I've used Photoshop Elements to design all my pages. Here are a few examples of what I've come up with, in case you don't want to click back.
I've tried to create my own simplistic, uniformed style that would save me time and too much brain power. After all, I probably would rather be thinking about designing kids clothes rather than pages - but a mom has to do what a mom has to do. My pages are usually just filled with white and I go from there. I haven't been adding a whole lot of embellishments because that took so much time.
Now, keep in mind I would never want to down play Photoshop Elements. It is an awesome piece of software and I use it a lot. However, I've paid for and taken 2 classes (beginning and intermediate) to just begin to understand it's capabilities. It comes with a big learning curve. Not to mention, with the software and classes, I've spent well over 200 buckaroos. Ouch. (Don't tell my husband).
I really wish I would have known about My Memories Suite before I invested all that money. This scrapbooking software packs a lot of punch for much less time and money.
So for any of you who take and work with digital pictures (that's all of you, right?) I'm going to take 7 days and show you 7 things you can accomplish with this affordable program. It can do a whole lot more than scrapbooking, which is the best part.
Thanks to MyMemories.com, I will giveaway 1 free software download on day 7. For any of you who can't wait until then to discover it for yourself, take my promo code (STMMMS98607) to get $10 off the My Memories Suite Scrapbook Software AND get $10 off the MyMemories.com store!!!! Smokin' deal!!!
So this post is actually day 1 also, because I can't wait to show you what you can do with it.
Day 1: Scrapbooking with Your Designs
My Memories allows several options when designing a page. One is to start completely from scratch and make the page your own.
I wanted to show you that it is possible to create the same pages that you could in Elements, to an extent of course. I might add that I use Adobe Lightroom to edit all my pictures first. Just preference. I've never liked Elements for editing.
Here are two pages I made first in Photoshop Elements, staying true to my style.
Then, starting from scratch in My Memories Suite, I recreated the same thing in minutes having no prior knowledge of the program.
The only difference you may notice is the border on the first page. It will actually look the same as the Elements version when printed and that is because My Memories shows a grayed out grid (seen below) where your page will be cropped. This is huge! No more guess work when I go to print and being totally bummed when some of my page elements are cut out!
I was so shocked at how easy the program was to figure out. No expensive classes needed - same great look.
